Henri-Frederic Amiel said « Solidarity, is to help someone carry the weight of life and make it easier”
As students of the IUT Tech De co of Bordeaux, we are lucky to have to do a real life project during our second year. We decided to create a non profit organisation named TC Challenge. Its goal is to promote and help a cause that is important to us trough a sporting event. The creation of this non profit was accepted by our school commission and so, our project could finally see the light ! This year we decided to innovate and organize the first blindfolded surfing competition to promote Seesurf.
We named our competition the “Ocean Challenge” that will take place on the 4th of June in the surfing town Lacanau.
Why See Surf ?
The goal of this project is first of all to promote and help the action of See Surf “With surfing, everything is possible!”. The goal of See Surf is to help blind and visually impaired people to surf, enjoy the ocean and truly take advantage of the freedom and sensations that surfing carries through many surf events all year round.
Two members of the TC Challenge team, Thibault Cazals and Lucas Worboys, are volunteers for this organisation since 2014 and they want to go further in their involvement through the Ocean Challenge.
The Ocean Challenge
The Ocean Challenge is a tag team surfing competition but with one exception : the competitors will be blindfolded and blind or visually impaired surfers (of the SeeSurf team) will be integrated to the teams. This competition will take place on the 4th of June 2017 (PENTECOTE week end) in partnership with the Lacanau Surf Club and will have as keywords solidarity and good spirit !
At the same time, we want to offer a true event for the awareness of the public to visual impairment trough a competition village constituted of animations, stands, local artist concerts and a big dinner.
We are four 20 year old friends and students of a 2 year undergraduate business program (IUT techniques de commercialisation).
Thibault : Very event-driven, implied in community lives and passionate about surfing from a young age he is in charge of the logistic department of our event.
Lucas: Surfing is a big part of Lucas’s life and so his understanding of the environment allows him to be in charge of partnerships.
Pauline: Very interested in human relations and with a desire to build a successful project from scratch. Pauline is the President of Tc Challenge and looks after accounting and negotiations.
Marion: Marion loves communicating with people and sharing an important message. So naturally Marion is in charge of the communication of the event.
We are actually in the search for partners that will help us financially and materially.
Therefore, we think that you can also help us to achieve and present this beautiful project to the best of our ability, Yes You! And share this adventure with us.
The 1600 € budget thanks to your participation will be essential for the realisation of our project.
The budget is divided in 5 parts :
We hope that you will be many to participate to this adventure, and obviously we thank you beforehand for your support !
