I grew up in Guadeloupe, an island I owe my love of the sea and sailing to. At the age of six I discovered the joy of the Optmist boat, and then the pleasure of the Hobie Cat and surf !
At fourteen years old, I joined my mother in France to continue my studies in Paris.
Nine years later, I have a Master in International Business. Many professional opportunities were offered to me... However, I could not stop thinking about the Caribbean. I wondered if I would go back and if so, what I would do. Then I got a phone call early January from my father. He asked for me to join him in Saint Martin. I could not have said yes faster !
Following hurricane Irma that ravaged the island in September 2017, my father Cyrille and I came to salvage boats. We cleaned the Anse Marcel Marina where we pulled out more than eighty damaged boats and catamarans. It has been a hell of an adventure with long days and hard work. But it has all been worth it. To do what I love.
We had the opportunity to buy a BALI 4.5 catamaran damaged by Irma.
We have already done a lot of work on the boat, but we still have some final touches to work on before we can put it back in the sea.
1. Catamaran after Irma
2.Catamaran being repaired on the shipyard
3. Finishing touches and catamaran today
Our mission is to deliver the Ultimate Catamaran Experience combining Discovery, Gastronomy and Environmental Responsibility.
The project is called Pyratz, Gourmet Sailing : it includes intimate day cruises to discover the beautiful archipelago of the islands of Saint Martin and Anguilla. Combining the pleasures of sailing and gastronomy. (Yes, because eating well is in the DNA of my family, my grandfather and father were restaurateurs ....) The French and Caribbean gastronomic know-how are so rich that it made sense to integrate them into our cruises.
This project is a true life project. I am about to fully live out a childhood dream of making a living sailing, working along side my father and helping people discover the treasures of the Caribbean while having a positive impact on the island !
Pyratz, Gourmet sailing will allow us to take meaningful steps towards environmental preservation and to promote sustainable and responsible tourism !
Saint Martin / Sint Maarten has been very damaged by Irma, the island is rebuilding step by step, but the tourism sector that accounts for 45% of GDP still suffers. In addition, major environmental problems such as single-use plastics pollution persist.
We will be the ambassadors of a lifestyle and a tourism respectful of the island cultural and natural heritage ! Our cruises will be plastic free, only reusable dishes will be used and reef safe sunscreens will be offered to our passengers. We will work hand in hand with local producers to support local communities and take part in local initiatives towards our island preservation !
We already supported the initiatives below :
"Less Plastic, More SXM" Pétition
"Get Up, Clean Up" Contest
My fiancée Alisson recently joined us in Saint Martin to start with us this great adventure. She will be in charge of the company Sustainable Development, as well as hostess during our cruises.
Alisson spent the last two years in the United States as a French Wine and Rhums ambassador. Her expertise in this field will make the pleasure of our guests.
The high touristic season in Saint Martin / Sint Maarten goes from December to April. We would like to start our cruises in January. We barely have two months left to be operational and we would need a helping hand to finish the boat, so I appeal to you.
A huge thank you from my dad, Alisson and I for your support !
I am Max, I'm 25 years old and I decided to leave my Parisian life to live my childhood dream. I have always been passionate about the sea, its treasures and sailing. It's on a boat that I feel good! That's why I started a new life project with my dad Cyrille and my fiancée Alisson: starting a catamaran cruising company in Sint Maarten.
The funds will be used to make the last necessary adjustments :
The total cost is 32,000 €. We ask for your participation on 3 different stages :
Stage 1: 7,000 €
To finish the exterior of the catamaran and buy new navigation equipment and refrigerator.
Reaching the first stage will allow us to start using the catamaran for charter as a motor yacht. Nevertheless, we wish to install a mast on our catamaran as soon as possible! By sailing, we will reduce by 80 to 90% our CO2 emissions. A goal that can be reached now with your help.
Stage 2: 25,000 € attained
To finish the exterior of the catamaran, buy new navigation equipment and refrigerator and install mast and rigging
Stage 3 : 32,000 € attained
To finish the Catamaran. (To finish the exterior of the catamaran, buy new navigation equipment and refrigerator and install mast and rigging with new sails and halyards.
