PHENO surfboards, a new generation of boards and the future of surfing with STARK Surfboards

STARK surfboards started in 1981 and is part of the surf history in France. In 2016, the manager: Jean Pierre STARK teamed with Vincent MARECHAL, a young engineer who is a Surf lover, in order to gradually develop this new PHENO project. The goal is to allow STARK Surfboards to continue its development with Vincent MARECHAL and stand other competitors in developing this promising new PHENO technology (so-called for PHENOMENAL).

In the PHENO boards, the wooden stringer is replaced by carbon stiffeners (carbon tubes) inserted inside the foam in order to give the right flex to the board according the surf level of the surfer and his needs. We can adapt the technology of carbon tubes for beginners to professionals.

This new technology (carbon tubes combined with polystyrene foam and laminate epoxy), allows the production of lighter and stronger surfboards more flexible and more responsive on the waves. The Boards are also faster on the waves and the carbon tube technology increase the manoeuvres potential of the surfer.

These boards have a "revival" out of proportion compared to the traditional surfboards. When the surfer is starting, the board with the carbon tubes store the energy and the boards deform to then render the energy stored in through a great acceleration.

Today we introduce our project because we have a lack of finance to make the commercial and industrial development as far as, by the past 3 years, the scientific and technical development was very expensive. Today, this project is the backbone of the company, and we have to ensure the future and the development of the company through this new surf generation.

This product is 100% French design and mainly handmade. We put in it all our technical and scientific know-how. Raw materials like polystyrene foam are recyclable and we try in our production to minimize the environment impact by recycling all materials. At least in producing more enduring surfboards also reduces the environmental impact because each Board has a longer life.

By the past months, I developed a joint venture with Jean Pierre STARK in order to continue and develop STARK Surfboards Company in the coming years.

Surfer when I was very young, I studied engineering and I worked by the past 10 years in the industry in order to develop my knowledges.

At 34 year old, I decided to leave the industry and to do on my own in relationship with my long time passion: the surf. It is in this context that I developed a joint association of both work and ideas with Jean Pierre STARK to develop the new generation of PHENO surfboards.

My professional engineering background with strong industrial bases allows me to make the best choices for STARK Surfboards Company. Today, the new generation of PHENO boards is certainly the best result of this joint venture and the mixt of strategy, technics and passion.
