Seas and oceans of the world are an unlimited source of inspiration and knowledge for humans. Many initiatives have already been developed in order to better understand, use sustainably, protect, restore, and inspire dreams about our blue planet.
The goal of WeOcean project is to create a link between these people who are developing initiatives and the public in order to make the Ocean accessible to everyone and to better respect it.
As part of SEA MedExpe 2018 (Sailing Eco Active MedExpedition), WeOcean sailboat sailed for 5 months from the Spanish border to the Italian border, through Corsica in order to meet people who are committed to protect the Mediterranean Sea. Back since October, the team is currently working on producing a film and a book to present these initiatives filmed in the field, but also on planning the next expedition.
Who are we?
Leslie Bissey - 32 years old - Founder of WeOcean, Oceanologist, Professional diver, Captain and wildlife photographer
Graduated from a Master in Coastal and Ocean Management (Montpellier 2 University), Leslie travelled during more than seven years, from Southeast Asia to French Polynesia and from Europe to the Maldives working on missions related to the marine environment. She decided to launch her own project, WeOcean to create missing synergies between the actors of the Ocean of Tomorrow.
Elodie Gasparin - 29 years old - Marine biologist and agronomist, Professional Diver, Founder member of WeOcean and team-mate on board
She graduated from AgroParisTech School with a Masters in Water Management from AgroParisTech-Engref. Her professional experiences lead her from France to Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia. Given the slow pace of many environmental projects, she decided to join WeOcean Project convinced that in the sharing of know-how we will be able to face better the environmental emergency and find sustainable solutions.

What's the money for?
WeOcean is a 100% self-funded project for this first year : purchase, boat preparation, and 5-month sailing campaign ! We have received invaluable help from Girerd EnR Autoconsommation Photovoltaïque, Promocash rodez, Ecoblabla - Vie Moderne et Zéro Déchet, Crosscall to help us get a full belly, self-sufficiency and safety while being able to use environment-friendly products!
We are now working on the release of our film, thanks to Frozen Frogs Media and Manuel Lefèvre, which is also a self-financed project ! We are supported by Solidream, where we based our office.
Today, we need help to finish this first project and to keep dreaming together.
The collect will be used to finance the production of the film and the book (editing, music, recording of the voice, printing, etc.). Join us in this crazy but funny adventure, which is driven by a dream ... sharing around the cause of the Ocean.
