Challenge in paddleboard (row on a board in the forearm) of 180 km between Ouessant and Concarneau in 6 stages.

Why this challenge?

It is a logical continuation of the various crossings of the Bay of Douarnenez that I have been doing for 8 years. To leave the Bay is to think outside the box. What better than to rally the Ponant Islands in the Iroise Sea. To embark on this kind of adventure, allows you to test yourself, to shake up your daily life in order to get the best out of it and get out of it.

It is also to give the possibility to sail in emblematic places: island of Ushant, the archipelago of Molène, tip of Pen-Hir (Tas de Pois), island of Tevennec, island of Sein, Raz de Sein, Pointe du Raz, Pointe de Penmarch, the Glénan archipelago.

Who are we?

I am 47 years old, married and dad of 2 boys of 17 and 15 years old. I am from the Lorient region. I live for 18 years in Douarnenez (Finistère 29). Since I was 8, I have never been very far from the sea. I started at the age of 12 on the BIC 320 dinghy and since then I have not stopped and chained many water activities : windsurfing, surfing, scuba diving, coastal rescue (BNSSA holder), wakeboarding, snorkeling, stand up, open water swimming, paddelboard.

When I was titularized as a teacher (industrial design) in a professional high school in Quimper (Le Likès), I settled naturally in Douarnenez, city open to the sea to make the most of this space.

Since 2013, I became the organizer of a stand up paddle race called the "Kelt Ocean Race". She gained notoriety as and when editions. It brings together more than a hundred participants each time. Each time, the "Kelt" offers unique racing formats for example: 2 days long distance (around 45kms), or the meeting of different supports (OC1 canoe, Surfski, SUP, paddleboard, supfoil). Through the association "Kelt Océan Club" of which I am the president, we make discover the various rowing supports and we bring people to practice together.

You understand that I am not just an organizer. I am a practitioner and a competitor. I had the chance to be invited to an extraordinary event in Tahiti in December 2018 "Watermana". For a week, the challenge was to be able to do more than 70 km of stand up, 30 km of paddleboard and 10 km of swimming. The key word was "Do not expect anything, be ready for anything". A unique experience with twenty participants where we shared the mutual assistance and the surpassing of oneself.

It allowed me to see that I was able to do and comfort myself in my challenge.

As a result of this adventure, I wish in the coming years to organize it for others.
